Esa-Pekka Salonen's Violin Concerto has won the 2012 University of Louisville Grawemeyer Award for Music Composition. The concerto, which the Finnish composer and conductor wrote for Leila Josefowicz in 2009, beat 164 other entries to win the $100,000 prize.
